Q. There is no lighting in my dining room that is adjacent to the living room with a 12 ft wide open doorway between them. Both rooms have contemporary furniture but the living room has an original 1800s 6-tiered crystal chandelier in a plaster ceiling medallion. What should I do for a dining room fixture?
A.
I would suggest going with a glass chandelier, but in a more contemporary style to complement the living room fixture without looking completely out of place with the dining room furnishings.
Some possibilities would include Artemide's Pantalica or Gaia ranges, I Tre's fabulous Murano lamp which features authentic hand-blown glass from the famed island just off Venice, or some of the new contemporary lines from Kurt Faustig. All these pieces are available through Europe by Net.
